Domaine Apostolidi Sauvignon Blanc White

Light to medium lemon.

Addictive, smooth reducing gunpowder to the nose, given with mineral and lanolin notes. Lemon blossoms and rhythmic citrus content of the pale region, fresh apples as a minimal white flesh hint, no in-your-face aromatics, and – luckily – no archetypal varietal connection other than a faint mercaptopentan-hexan terpene profile lurking faintly. Spicy spices and slightly peppery points, any botanical trace suffices in the depth of the tunnel.

It approaches the palate – which oscillates in sheer fullness – moving early on a seemingly unexpectedly mature trajectory, almost in a sophisticated mood, but falsely so. To verify this, the mixed citrus and white-fleshed fruit can be heard, with a florality characteristic of chamomile and linden, which confirms the assessment. To bring the most capable reserves of acidity together with the lasting energy of the mineral and lanolinic dimension, to immediately revive the freshness and dissolve the initial intake, in a heterogeneous but interesting bipolarity, and with the deliciousness not sparing in dosage. Peppery and spicy with a subtle hint of raw almond, still trying to find botanical notes, except perhaps an anemic distant impression of fennel and amarone.

Above average, very nice aftertaste, now lemony, which brings out its phenolic self here. Very mineral, peppery and piquant, the green almond sounds inseparable in a different dry Carpathian version, as does the sulphite that did not settle at all, having fennel and amarone traces in an idiosyncratic botanical consideration.
