Polykarpos Althea Root Herb

Althaea medicinal (Althaea officinalis), belongs to the family Malvaceae. It originates from the area around the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea as well as the eastern Mediterranean. It blooms from June to August.
Althea is used for its antitussive, emollient and anti-inflammatory properties. Soothes muscle aches, eliminates bruises, matures abscesses, fights gingivitis and aphthae, heals wounds. Helps tired kidneys, fights constipation, soothes irritations. It is beneficial in inflammations and diseases of the digestive tract (stomatitis, pharyngitis, ulcers of the stomach, intestines), respiratory (laryngitis, angina, bronchitis) and urinary system (cystitis, gallstones, kidney stones).
Fights intense and dry cough and cold and acts as a mild expectorant.
