Passionflower is considered to be an herb with a mild, but highly effective, sedative effect. It is thought to affect the central nervous system by treating disorders such as anxiety, melancholy, overexertion and excessive nervousness. According to herbalists, the consumption of Passionflower does not lead to addiction. Some argue that the “calming” properties of Passiflora also have an effect on the muscles (muscle relaxing property), while many books state that consuming Passiflora may reduce stress. In many parts of Europe (eg Germany and Italy) the herb is used to relax “hyperactive” children.
Passionflower decoction: boil for 10-15 minutes in water (calculate that you will need 2-5g of herb per “cup” of drink).
Dosage: Consume up to 3 cups of Passionflower per day (morning, noon, night before meals) for at least 15 days.
