The Antonopoulos Farm is located in Dilofos near Mount Narthakio, a place of great natural beauty. It consists of an area of hundreds of acres in a hilly area, at an altitude of about 380 to 630 meters. At the farm, grains, legumes, vines, tomatoes, etc. are grown. It has a proprietary food processing, packaging and storage facility and implements a standard raw material management system.Since 1985, insisting on the use of only native, traditional and ancient varieties that he has managed to preserve from generation to generation, as well as organic farming methods/techniques that he has developed/evolved to produce products with high quality criteria and production processes that harmonize with sustainability, Antonopoulos Farm has brought back to the market/consumption old types of local grains (at risk of genetic erosion or extinction), as well as foods with high nutritional value and optimal compatibility with the body. Zea is included among these grains. Zea (triticum dicoccum) is one of the oldest cereals known to man. Its samples have been found in excavations of prehistoric settlements throughout Greece, with the oldest one in Asia Minor dating back to 12,000 years BC. The ancients did not eat wheat bread which they only used as animal feed. Zea contains the amino acid Lysine (Lycin) which strengthens the immune system, helps digestion, easier absorption of calcium and magnesium. The port of “Zea” in Piraeus received its name because of the Zea grain trade that took place in the area in ancient times. The ancients considered Zea very important and nutritious and that is why Alexander the Great fed his army only with it.
