Basic Properties: Emollient, anti-inflammatory, expectorant, astringent
Use: for bronchitis, catarrh, pharyngitis, laryngitis, cough, sore throat, gastritis, stomach ulcers, topically for eczema
How it is used:
– the flowers and leaves as an infusion: 1 teaspoon in a cup of boiled water for 10-15′. We drink 3-4 times a day between meals.
-externally as a compress: wet a clean cloth in mallow tea and apply to the irritated skin.
-Alternatively, a cold infusion can be made by leaving the dried herb in cold water overnight. According to some herbalists the cold infusion draws out the sticky substance of the plant more effectively and may work better for both internal and external use.
