The flowers have a strong and pleasant smell, a sweet and aromatic taste. The leaves are bitter and slimy. The flowers contain mucilage, flavonoids, taraxanthin, arnidiol and faradiol, tannin and essential oil. The leaves contain mucilage, abundant tannin, glycoside bitter element, inulin, sitosterol and zinc. The divine iron colors the decoction of the plant black, due to the tannin content.
PROPERTIES:
-It acts as an expectorant, emollient, anticatarrhal, diuretic and strong antitussive.
-It has anti-inflammatory, spasmolytic and bacteriostatic properties.
-Can be used for chronic or acute bronchitis, irritating cough, whooping cough and asthma.
-It is useful in most problems of the respiratory system, including chronic forms of emphysema.
USE:
Prepared as an infusion. Pour 1-2 teaspoons of dry herb into a cup of boiling water, cover and leave for 10-15 minutes. Drink the drink 3 times a day.
For cough it can be combined with Marrubio and Verbasco.
