Halkia red is a classic, fresh and natural vinification of the most planted Greek red grape, Agiorgitikos, from its birthplace in Nemea, by organic grower Anna Halkia. An easy red wine with a rustic and fun character.

The old people around Amyntaio still call it “Popolka”, the real name of Xinomavros before the 70s. A natural, zero red Xinomavro, from its birthplace in the lake terroir of Amyntaio, by the master of the genre, Vassilis Vaimakis.
Grower: Vaimaki Family
Vintage: 2019
Grapes: Xinomavro 100%
Name: Varietal Wine
Alcohol: 13.20%
Bottle: 750 ml
Viticulture: Organic (not certified)
Vinification: From organically grown Xinomavro grapes, fermented from their natural yeast with temperature control in stainless steel, a few days of maceration and aged for a further 5 months in stainless and 12 more in neutral barrels, before being bottled unfiltered, unfiltered, virgin. zero additives).
Notes: Dark brick red with intense blackcurrant and leather notes on the nose and notes of hay, with a surprisingly clean palate and playful tannins.

Light to medium lemon.
Addictive, smooth reducing gunpowder to the nose, given with mineral and lanolin notes. Lemon blossoms and rhythmic citrus content of the pale region, fresh apples as a minimal white flesh hint, no in-your-face aromatics, and – luckily – no archetypal varietal connection other than a faint mercaptopentan-hexan terpene profile lurking faintly. Spicy spices and slightly peppery points, any botanical trace suffices in the depth of the tunnel.
