Eucalyptus or Eucalyptus globulus is known for its beneficial properties in the respiratory system because it facilitates and releases respiration. There are more than 500 species of eucalyptus. The trees are tall and can reach a height of 90 meters and the circumference of the trunk up to 8 meters. They are the tallest flowering plants. The eucalyptus leaves are long, leathery and hang from the tree. The fruit is a capsule surrounded by a sheath and contains many small spores while the flowers when opened join together to form a small container. The leaves of many species contain an oil also known as eucalyptus oil used in medicine, in various nasal sprays.
INDICATIVE WAYS OF USE
- Breathing / cold – 5-8 drops of eucalyptus essential oil in a bowl of boiling water and inhaling the vapors. It is the most common essential oil against colds. If our cold is at a more advanced stage and is accompanied by cough then we can enhance its action by adding 3 drops of peppermint essential oil, 2 drops of sage oil and 1 drop of thyme essential oil.
- Disinfectant use – So mix 20-30 drops of eucalyptus essential oil in 5 liters of water and use it for any disinfectant use on any surface of your home .. Its action is enhanced with the essential oil of the tea tree dripping an additional 15 drops in the above mixture.
